The Workshop!

Oh dear, I've been a bad girl! But I have a good excuse for my absentee posts - things have been straight out nutty here. Lots of weddings, beautiful brides, fun locations, and LOTS of flowers which I will get to eventually. So many studio shots to share and I'm not sure I will ever be as awesome at blogging them as I would like to be.

On another note...we did our little workshop in Santa Barbara this spring and it was soooo FUN. It turned out to be a relaxed, one-on-one intensive with my gal Grace from Vale of Enna in Chicago. All I can say is...she makes me smile! A talented designer and a wonderful person. I felt so lucky to have 2 days designing with her and making a new flower friend.

We had secured this fantastic little Hobbit House in the sand, picked some amazing flowers, played and designed and chatted for hours just inches from the water's edge. Enjoyed good food, good company, great wine etc.
On day two a few people arrived who I am lucky to call my friends....

Joel Serrato of Joel Serrato Films, and Jose Villa came to capture our little elopement creations. Rebecca Stone of Duet-Weddings was there too to add all her infinite design wisdom and help me keep my sanity. Gorgeous Melanie and her beau Chris came to model.
My husband and our little Alice rounded out the group for a very fun and magical time.

See more of this little elopement session, including Joels sweet film, on Style Me Pretty and Once Wed.

New Workshop Dates for September coming soon!
Hope to see some of you there.

For now you will have to visit photographer Aaron Delesie's blog and our feature in two parts, on Style me Pretty, here and here. All the pretty details and planning by Beth Helmstetter.

Once Wed - Shoot with Duet Weddings

I've been waiting to see these little gems for a bit now...and they were so worth the wait! Images by Jose Villa. With Jose the problem is not finding enough good shots, it's more like how to chose your favorites. Tricky! See One Wed's feature of this shoot here and here.

Rebecca Stone and I had been wanting to work on a little something together and this is what came of it. An outdoor mystical, firefly den of a gorgeous and enchanted evening in the woods. El Capitan Luxury campgrounds to be exact. Great out-of-the-box spot for a romantic wedding.

Some of my favorite details from this shoot were:

1. The dress!!! So beyond beautiful

2. Rebecca's finds - the horn vases, bone flat ware, flint glasses/goblets

3. Feather Save the Date...how did they even do this?

4. Our little vintage jewelry boxes full of flowers - they looked like miniature glass greenhouses.

5. The Firefly lighting installation of bare bulb above the dining table

I really tried to stay true to the woodsy side of this idea Rebecca had by using woodland type flowers, flowers that grow from bulbs, in a mossy moist place. Muscari, double deep purple tulips, hellebores, anemones, flowering pieris, allium, etc.

What a fun and gorgeous day this was. I cannot say enough positive, gushing things about Rebecca, Joel - check out his film of this shoot here, and Jose - only that you should hire them immediately for your event.
