Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Love a lazy Sunday/Monday when I can get them. So sorry for being remiss with my posts of late. We had a lot going on over here. Beautiful glass and terracotta flying in from all over this big land. Flowers to order, prep and arrange. Lots and Lots of AMAZING garden roses from Northern California. Their sweet smell still haunts the studio. All in preparation for a wedding of extreme loveliness that seemed staged in a beautiful Tuscan garden. Fruiting chandeliers...you get the vibe?

I wont' have images for a few weeks yet...but here are a couple from her samples date.

Weekend Wilderness

This weekend's wilderness is a fluffy white dream of an arrangement. I'm enjoying one more "calm" weekend before we get insane with weddings over here. But it's a healthy kind of insanity....I think. The birdies that hatched two weeks ago in a little nest above the studio have already learned to fly and are off into the wild blue yonder. And I thought Alice was growing up too fast. Well, since I can't stop time I better just pay attention as it goes by.

Flowerwild wedding - Maya and Jirka

Another nice featured wedding - this time on LA Style Unveiled. A very artistic mix of people came together to celebrate the wedding of Maya and Jirka on the Hillsides of Malibu. Maya brought me her own collection of vintage tins to group together on the tables. Her sensibilities for the flowers were really relaxed and fun. Dahlias, garden roses, accents of blackberries on the vine...So summery. I though the overall look was so refreshing and lighthearted. What a fun event with lots of nice personal touches that made it so unique. Great great people!!! Hope you enjoy it.

805 Wedding Feature

Sweet surprises around every corner these days...

Here's one I knew nothing about. A featured wedding in 805 weddings which is an extremely tasteful mag - if I do say so myself.

This is from a wedding we did at the Adamson House in Malibu for an extremely stylish couple and it shows. All the details are there, from the graphic runners paired with very bold and shapely centerpieces, to the parasols and yummy cupcakes, not to mention the gorgeous bride Shawn. Take a look.

Sarah and Kevin Wed in Malibu

So as promised here are a few lovely images of Sarah and Kevin's wedding flowers before they left the studio. It was absolutely the perfect day in Malibu. Sunny with a nice breeze. The flowers looked radiant at the reception on the lawn of the Adamson House. And of course, so did the bride!!! She really seemed so perfectly ready and happy. We can't wait to show you more images from the day when we have them. So stay tuned...


The Bride's bouquet...a mix of lilac, fair bianca roses, peonies from Oregon, truly amazing white tweedia, in a cuff of rose tipped honeysuckle from our garden.







The Bridesmaids' bouquets were so sweet and demure. Sweet peas with twisty vines still attached, ranunculas, peonies, a single blush garden rose, with geranium.




I really thought these bouts of honeysuckle and tweedia were a fun mix of old fashioned and fun. Pure whimsy.

Saturday morning...catching a little Willy Wonka (the original) with my little A-cicle. We are off to Sarah and Kevin's wedding at the Adamson House in Malibu today. I am so thrilled with the flowers we have done for this event, but don't want to give it all away before the bride even gets to see them. So this is just a teaser.

Springtime Corporate Flowers

Got to make this a quick one!!! Lots of wedding prep yet to do. And I can't wait to get started today because I have my usual accomplice -ALICE, and yesterday we were joined by the arrival of some sweet little sparrow babies! A whole nest of them tweeting away in the eaves just outside the studio door. Alice just thinks this is GRAND. And I have to admit, so do I.

These are some pics of the finished pieces we did for a corporate event in Sacramento. Who says corporate flowers have to be ugly, fugly, ugly? Not I. Please tell everyone else. People who work in little gray cubicles and have to go to conventions and such can really appreciate a gorgeous flower arrangement. Just let them try it versus an oh so boring pave of god know what.

Weekend Wilderness

Gearing up for a long run of weddings. It is the so called "calm before the storm" which is not calm at all! But you know what's great?

Flowers.

Flowers are great! They are surprising, beautiful, inspiring....the list goes on. This week I found a few unique items at the market and in our own garden that made making these arrangements so effortless. It's like playing at the park. swinging in a swing, eating cotton candy without the bellyache, a perfect kiss. Know what I mean? Sometimes I am just so in awe of mother nature. Makes me feel kind of small but great all the same.


Local peonies are AMAZING right now. And some surprising items are a rose-like woody branch called "hawthorne" Never seen it before and it reminds me of a a heartier, less messy spirea with small red/pink flowers.
Allium...the teeny tiny star shaped white flower. Also a favorite of mine that is only around for a few weeks in late spring.





From the Flowerwild garden....passion vine, honeysuckle, I LOVE their wild touch!




These Coral tree peonies are delicious and they just get better as time goes by, opening up to reveal a their graphic stamen and slowly bleaching to a very pale white pink petal. These narcissus just make me smile. Happy happy!
